Three billion-euro rounds in one week, across robots, satellites, and battlefield interceptors. NEURA and ICEYE alone account for €2.4B of that. Alta Ares, two years old and already deploying in three active conflict zones, raised €50M to scale interceptors that cost a fraction of the missiles they replace. Meanwhile Morpho closed one of DeFi’s largest rounds ever, Mistral is heading for a €20B valuation, and Bending Spoons filed for a US IPO.

Mistral in talks to raise €3B at €20B valuation
Reports this week put Mistral in conversations to close a round at nearly double its last known valuation of €11.7B. If it closes, this would be one of the largest European AI fundraises on record.
Bending Spoons files for US IPO
Italy’s app portfolio company behind Evernote, WeTransfer, and Splice filed for a US listing. Another European exit choosing New York over home markets.
ICEYE raises €1B at a €10B+ valuation
Led by General Atlantic, the Finnish SAR satellite company is now one of Europe’s most valuable private defence and space assets. Customers span governments and militaries across NATO-aligned nations.

LEO is getting crowded fast and the tracking infrastructure has not kept up. Objects between 1 and 10 cm are the critical blind spot: too small for commercial radar to routinely detect, large enough to disable a satellite on impact. Aavuus builds a global network of ground-based laser ranging stations that measure object positions with centimetre-level precision, closing a gap that current systems cannot address. The company spun out of the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute, which means the core technology is proven at the institutional level and Aavuus is commercialising it rather than inventing it from scratch. With tens of thousands of additional satellites heading to LEO over the next decade and debris removal still largely unsolved, the timing is structural.
